Preparation
For the preparation and online submission of your abstract please make sure to read carefully the following guidelines before proceeding with the preparation and submission of your abstract. When you are ready for the submission, please proceed with the completion of the Online Abstract Submission Form.
The submitted abstract should be a crisp, short, powerful, and self-contained summary, competently introducing the intended (oral or poster) presentation to help the reader swiftly determine the presentation's purpose, grip the readers' mind/imagination, and reflect the conference's theme. It is important to remember that an abstract is a way of talking about an argument and not of making the argument (this will be done in the presentation). When writing the abstract, keep in mind that you need to "go meta" by stepping outside the argument and describing it. In writing an abstract, you tell the reader what thesis you intend to defend and on what grounds. You do not actually argue for the thesis or the premises. The abstract for the 27th International Philosophy Conference in Ioannina, Greece, should be prepared in a narrative style and not structured in a traditional introduction/methods/findings/discussion section.
Suggested subsection of the abstract:
TITLE
The title should be concise, clear and aligned with the contents of the abstract and the conference theme. Although a partial aim of the title is to capture readers' attention, it should convey the scope of the presentation in an unambiguous, informative, and not misleading manner. The title should not exceed 15 words and should be written as an active statement.
INTRODUCTORY STATEMENT
This section briefly explains what is already known or commonly used or understood about the topic/ issue/ experience/ framework, what is not known, and a final statement of the problem or issue the presentation will address and why it is important and necessary.
PURPOSE
The abstract's purpose or aim should logically follow from the introductory statement and the highlighted gaps in knowledge. The purpose includes a clear statement that describes what will be presented (type of experience or framework of meaning-making), why it is important to present the experience or framework and in what context the experience occurred or the framework of meaning-making can be used, including the meaning or rationale of the experience or the introduction of the framework.
IMPACT AND SIGNIFICANCE
This subsection provides an interpretation of the significance of the experience or framework and the effect or impact it can potentially have on the practice context. It can include a sentence providing a high-level statement of what the experience or framework means in relation to the aim or purpose of the abstract/ presentation. A second sentence might provide insight into what this means for the intended audiences or participants regarding practice, future theorisation or research, and policy. A final sentence could make a recommendation as to how to address any issues that have been identified within the preceding sentences.
WRITING
Ensure that typographical, grammatical, and syntax errors and repetitions are addressed before submission. Maintain consistency of linguistic features such as the person pronouns (1st or 3rd person) and tense of verbs (past or present tense). Use active voice, do not include citations/ references and write the abstract in Arial 11 font size. Avoid big, complex and dense sentences. Do not use abbreviations, tables or figures, and quotations.
CONTRIBUTION
A brief reference to the contribution of your suggested presentation to nursing philosophy and/or nursing practice. This subsection should not include new insights or explanations, and the suggested contributions should logically follow the above subsections of the abstract. This can be the opportunity to reiterate your presentation's key point and/or offer a thought-provoking take-away message.

The official language of the Conference will be English, so all abstracts must be prepared, submitted and presented in English.
