After the closing of the final day's conference sessions, we invite you to join us for a magical excursion to the picturesque village of Metsovo, nestled in the mountainous region of Pindus in northern Greece.

Metsovo is a traditional village renowned for its rich history, distinctive architecture, and breathtaking natural beauty. Situated at an altitude of approximately 1,160 meters, it offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and forests. Visitors will have the opportunity to stroll through the cobbled streets, admire the traditional stone houses, and visit local shops selling traditional products.
Points of Interest in Metsovo:
- The Folklore Museum of Metsovo: One of the most famous museums in the area, it hosts a large collection of traditional items and costumes reflecting Metsovo's cultural heritage.
- The Averoff Gallery: An art space that houses work by Greek artists of the 19th and 20th centuries, offering a unique cultural experience.
- Katogi Averoff Winery: Founded by Evangelos Averoff, one of modern Greece's most prominent politicians and authors, who had a great passion for viticulture and winemaking. The winery is located in the heart of Metsovo and is renowned for producing high-quality wines that have received numerous awards both in Greece and internationally.
- The Monastery of Saint Nicholas: One of the oldest monasteries in the area, known for its beautiful architecture and picturesque setting.
Local Gastronomy
During your visit, be sure to try the local flavors. Metsovo is known for its exquisite cheeses, such as metsovone and metsovella, as well as traditional dishes like herb pies and milk pies. Additionally, all participants will have the chance to tour the Katogi Averoff Winery. Visitors will be able to get a close look at the winemaking process and taste some of the winery's best wines. The winery's tasting room offers a unique experience where guests can enjoy the wines paired with local delicacies.
